5 First Day Of School Keepsakes

5 First Day Of School Keepsakes

It comes around so quick doesn’t it? It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago that we were leaving hospital and starting the wonderful, emotional and extremely hard journey that is parenthood. And now we are busy getting everything ready for the first day of school. How does it happen? It really is a blink and you’ll miss it kind of experience isn’t it? After a fantastic summer with my little ones I am spending the last couple of days labelling clothes and making sure Jack has everything he needs ready for Monday. And also trying to mentally prepare myself! I don’t want him to pick up on my emotions as he is very excited so I will save the tears until he is happily in the classroom with his friends.

I will find time to capture this milestone though and have a few ideas on how you can do the same. TIP – I recommend doing the first day of school keepsake over the weekend as I can guarantee you won’t have time to do it on Monday morning. So here are my top 5 keepsakes you can do at home to capture that momentous first day of school.

  1. Download our first day of school keepsake to print off. Grab some poster paint and take a print on their hands. Frame it, laminate it, copy it for family. It’s your to keep forever in their keepsake box so you can look at it together over the years.school certificate
  2. Take a photo with a chalk board detailing little ones, name, age, school year, fave colour and fave film. This is something that could be turned into a tradition at the start of every school year. How cool would it be to create a collage for their 18th birthday? Courtesy of parents.com.550_102594735
  3. Back to school interview. Download this back to school interview from Spaceships and Laser Beams and have fun asking the questions. Little ones come out with the funniest answers too so I am sure this will be brilliant. Again this could be the start of a yearly tradition.spaceshipsandlaserbeams-first-day-of-school-interview
  4. I love the idea of this time capsule keepsake from The First Grade Parade. How much fun would it be to open it up at the end of the school year and compare the then and now. I bet they change so much in the first year. Here are the templates to download now. You might have to ignore the fact it’s American and says first grade though.first week4_thumb[1] first week6[5]
  5. The obligatory school uniform photo in front of door – this has to be done right? Just to fill up everyone’s facebook feed with blue/green/red school jumpers.first day of school

To all the Mumma’s out there I hope the first day is a breeze for your little one. I know it will be an emotional rollercoaster (unless you really cannot wait for them to start – and that is ok too), but it’s such an exciting journey for them to start.

Let me know how you get on creating your keepsakes.

Toddler Sleep Issues

A couple of weeks ago I posted about my 2 year old on facebook and asked for tips on how we could get him to sleep again. After an exhausting couple of weeks for my husband and I we were ready to try anything. Jack has always been a good sleeper, ever since he was… Continue Reading
