Welcome to the Beanstalk Keepsakes blog. I won't just be posting about our products we promise. I wanted to give you a bit more so you will see posts on what to do in the local area, craft projects you can do with the kiddies, keepsakes you can make from home and you'll get to hear a bit more about me and my life as a work from home Mum. Hope you enjoy my posts. Feel free to comment on any post and leave your feedback.
At the beginning of the holidays I wrote a bucket list of things I wanted to do with Jack and Eva over the summer.
This summer is so important to me as it’s my last summer with Jack at home full time. He heads off to start school in September, so making it as much fun as possible is top of the list. I am so lucky that I work for myself and am able to take some “time out” to spend quality time with them. If you are thinking of taking a leap into working for yourself please do get in touch as I am in the middle of working on an opportunity for Mums like me.
So here is a rundown of what we have got up to so far
So this week we spent time in and around the house. I hadn’t made too many plans and regretted not doing much but to be fair I think we needed a quiet week to recover from finishing pre-school. We still spent time in local parks, reading and watching favourite TV shows. This is the week I made my list (see above).
I also read this blog post from Laura’s Lovely Blog which inspired me even more to get out and about with the children.
I got an email from our local children’s centre about the activities that they were organising over the holidays so we went to the stay and play session on the Tuesday. It was raining unfortunately or else we would have gone to Windsor for the changing of the guard which is on our list of things to do.
We also took part in the football session on Wednesday afternoon. This is a taster session by Little Kickers and Jack thoroughly enjoyed himself. I never knew he had such skills! Think we may be signing him up for some coaching by the Little Kickers team.
Thursday morning took us to Gray’s Farm, which is just outside Bracknell. It was a glorious morning for some fruit picking and prime time for Strawberries and Raspberries. There have been a lot of rumours that the farm has closed down since being sold to the council but it is very much still open and business as usual and a great activity for the kids. I am pretty sure Eva ate her weight in strawberries though. I spent less than £5 and we got 2 punnets full of fruit.
On Friday afternoon we wondered over to South Hill Park. We are so lucky to have this right on our door step. They have two play parks, a maze and a big field for children to let off some steam and it feels very safe. I also hear it’s a good Poke-stop for those who are into that. I have not downloaded the game purely for the fact I know I will be addicted!!
And the fun didn’t stop at the weekend either. I saw that the weather was going to be good so I suggested going to the beach for the day. We are around an 1hr15mins from the south coast and decided on West Wittering purely for its glorious sandy beach. What a fab day we picked too. The weather was warm and windy but it was perfect for building sand castles and paddling in the sea. We will definitely be back.
On Sunday we went to Locks Ride near Ascot for a birthday party. Locks Ride is very spacious and has a fantastic splash pad (running at certain times so check before you go) and sand pit. We topped the week off with a BBQ in our garden at home. Great end to a fun and busy week.
I can’t believe we are into the third week of the holidays already. This week we are planning on going to California Country Park, Windsor and The Living Rainforest. We have enjoyed a few days out at The Living Rainforest this year. You ay your admission and you have unlimited access for a whole year!! Amazing! I’ll be back next week to let you know how we got on this week and to give you a run down of what we have been up to.
Why don’t you let me know what you’ve been getting up to and if you’re surviving the holidays by commenting below?
