At Little Lightburners we are proud to work with artisans and crafts people both in the UK and abroad. You can read more about them here:
Central to the Little Lightburners collection are the beautiful fair trade Pebble toys from Bangladesh. Parents and children love them! All Pebble products are made by Hathay Bunano. Hathay Bunano, meaning handmade or hand-knitted in Bangla, is a non-profit fair trade organisation in Bangladesh. Its mission is to create fairly paid, good quality, flexible and local employment for rural women who are poor and often disadvantaged. Little Lightburners is very proud to stock Pebble toys and your purchase contributes to this vital work.
I’m also very proud to stock Barefoot soft toys, designed by artist and colourist Barbara Sansoni and individually made from 100% hand-woven cotton, by talented artisans in Sri Lanka, who earn a decent wage. The fibres are hank-dyed using eco-friendly dyes and dried naturally in the Sri Lankan sunshine. The toys are stuffed with natural fibres (kapok) and many are unique. These products will last a long time and won’t ever blight the planet. They are not mass produced and most definitely made with love!
Little Lightburners features the work of other designers and makers too; the beautiful wooden keepsakes from Twinkling Moos; stainless steel keepsakes from With All My Heart; gorgeous Nursery Art from Pink Milkshake Designs and of course the silver jewellery made in-house by Little Lightburners. I’m very fortunate to work with The Keepsake Association so you can be assured that all silver keepsake jewelllery is of the highest standard and made with love and attention to detail.
Every purchase you make from Little Lightburners goes towards supporting individuals and communities both locally and abroad, and this celebration of independent makers and designers is central to the ethos of Little Lightburners.
